DEKRA Automotive Pty Ltd initiated its operations in South Africa on October 1, 2008, focusing primarily on providing Certificate of Roadworthiness and Technical Inspection Checks. It is a joint venture partnership with DEKRA Germany, a renowned market leader in the provision of CORs and Technical Checks, known as the DEKRA seal, with a presence in 19 countries worldwide.

With annual sales surpassing Euro 2.006 Billion in 2011 and a workforce of 27,321 employees, DEKRA is the leading supplier of periodical vehicle Roadworthy Inspection and related expert services in Europe.

Established in Berlin in 1925, DEKRA seized the opportunity for expansion following the fall of the Berlin Wall, particularly in developing a comprehensive vehicle testing network in the former East Germany. Since 1998, DEKRA has pursued an aggressive expansion strategy, operating in 27 European countries through 166 subsidiaries and associated companies, and also expanding its presence to the USA, Brazil, China, Morocco, and South Africa.

DEKRA Global

In 2008, DEKRA bolstered its international competitive position by expanding into Southern Africa through DEKRA Automotive (Pty) Ltd, a joint venture between DEKRA Automotive International and FirstRand. Leveraging the expertise of highly qualified employees, innovative services, and products, alongside an acquisition-driven strategy to achieve critical mass, DEKRA Automotive (Pty) Ltd swiftly established a Test Centre network. Presently, it boasts a national footprint of over 40 vehicle inspection test centres, with ambitions to increase this number to 70.

DEKRA Automotive South Africa (Pty) Ltd currently employs over 370 people and continues to grow.
