Manager: Regional Airport Operations – Purpose of the Role
The Manager: Regional Airport Operations is responsible for overseeing and optimising all operational, financial, and service delivery activities across regional airports. The role ensures regulatory compliance, strong service provider performance, cost control, and a consistently high-quality passenger experience while upholding the FlySafair brand.
Key Responsibilities
Operational and Financial Management

Manage and authorise purchases and invoices related to Passenger Services, Crew, and Technical operations

Control and manage costs arising from delays, disruptions, and missed connections

Motivate for and manage additional contracts related to operational purchasing

Coordinate and manage delay handling and disrupted operations across regional stations
Service Provider and Stakeholder Management

Manage relationships with external service providers to ensure alignment with FlySafair standards
-
Monitor service level agreement compliance for staff and equipment
-
Attend to common interest matters and operational escalations
-
Provide guidance and oversight to external service providers and internal departments
Compliance, Safety, and Governance

Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation, including airside, ground safety, and labour regulations

Ensure Local Emergency Response Action Plans are in place in collaboration with internal safety teams

Coordinate and oversee scheduled audits to ensure the highest service and safety standards

Ensure compliance with IOSA and ISAGO audit requirements
Airport Representation and Committees

Represent FlySafair Operations at Airline Operators Committee forums via service providers

Represent the business at local Baggage, Security, Safety, and Bird & Wildlife Committees

Build and maintain strong relationships with charter operators and motivate for charter opportunities
Passenger Experience and Brand Management

Ensure a smooth, safe, and positive passenger journey across all regional airports

Promote customer service KPIs and Net Promoter Score objectives
-
Engage directly with passengers to address complaints and feedback received through NPS platforms

Uphold and protect the FlySafair brand, reputation, and service promise
Operations Oversight

Oversee passenger handling, ramp operations, baggage handling, and ticket sales functions

Manage ticket sales reconciliation at regional airports
-
Address unresolved operational issues with financial or reputational impact, including inadmissible passengers
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 or equivalent
-
Minimum of 10 years’ aviation experience, with at least 5 years in a management role
Qualifications and Experience (Advantageous)

Diploma or Degree in Travel, Tourism, or Aviation

Experience in passenger handling, baggage handling, cargo handling, and non-scheduled operations
-
Experience with commercial ground handling agreements

Strong knowledge of commercial airline operations and regulatory environments
