Trainee Manager – WC Northern Region (Shoprite Holdings)

The Trainee Manager will drive daily operational excellence under the guidance of the Branch Manager, supported by the Trainee Manager Programme. Key responsibilities include overseeing sales, customer service, merchandising, stock management, financial controls, and staff supervision to deliver an exceptional in-store experience.

Job Objectives

  • Achieve store sales and profit targets by executing divisional strategies.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service through store presentation, product displays, and efficient sales processes.
  • Address customer complaints in line with company policies.
  • Track and report daily performance against sales targets.
  • Manage stock procedures, including inventory checks and quality assurance.
  • Reduce stock loss with strict adherence to security and cash-handling protocols.
  • Implement pricing strategies and promotional activities.
  • Coordinate merchandise orders and replenishment.
  • Complete administrative tasks, including reporting, cash reconciliation, and employee documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with financial, security, and record-keeping policies.
  • Assist with staff scheduling, performance management, and team development.
  • Monitor health and safety policy adherence.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 certificate with English and Mathematics (essential).
  • Retail management or related tertiary qualification (desired).

Experience

  • 2+ years of retail store experience (essential).

Knowledge and Skills

  • Retail operations expertise (sales, merchandising, stock control, finance, reporting, etc.) (essential).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (essential).
