Purpose of the Role
The Branch Manager is responsible for the financial, business, marketing, and people management of the Zeerust branch.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Continuously monitor and manage branch performance, including:
- New business loan advances
- Interest revenue
- Fee income
- Branch expenses
- Age analysis
- Provisions and impairments
Business/Compliance Management
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and National Credit Act (NCA) lending regulations.
- Enforce adherence to collections policies and procedures.
- Investigate and report non-compliance to the Area Manager.
- Monitor for potential fraud and escalate suspicious activities.
- Ensure accurate daily/monthly branch balancing and reporting.
- Manage maintenance of company hardware and software.
Sales and Marketing Management
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to enhance branch performance.
- Measure effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed.
- Promote cross-selling of non-loan products.
- Drive community engagement through targeted marketing initiatives.
People Management
- Lead, motivate, and assess branch personnel.
- Ensure effective communication between branches and Area Managers.
- Address staff training needs and facilitate development.
- Recommend staff promotions, appointments, transfers, and salary adjustments.
Qualifications
- Minimum Matric qualification.
- Sales and Marketing qualifications (advantageous).
Experience
- 2+ years in microfinance or banking.
- Minimum 2 years in a managerial role.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong leadership and team management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Numeracy and administrative accuracy.
- In-depth knowledge of loan products and pricing.
- Proficiency in computer systems and reporting.
- Conflict resolution and multitasking abilities.
- Fluency in at least two local languages.
- Compliance-driven with a proactive work ethic.
Additional Requirements
- Clear ITC record.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
