About the Job: Cashier (Cashbuild Internal Applications Only)
Description:
Accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and documentation to ensure customer satisfaction. Prevent any goods or stock from passing through the POS without payment.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or at least 1 year of relevant work experience
- Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
- Strong basic calculation skills
- Excellent administration abilities
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and Public Holidays
- Ability to work under pressure
Key Performance Areas:
Cash Handling
- Balance all cash, floats, and petty cash (no shortages or overages)
- Correctly identify and capture goods on the POS terminal
- Accurately record payment types received from customers
- Maintain sufficient change at all times
- Conduct accurate pick-ups within set parameters
- Complete precise cash-ups at the end of each shift
- Deposit daily takings into the drop safe/vault
- Process transactions correctly for other stores, deliveries, and quotes
Administration
- Sign, compile, and file all cashier-related documentation
Ready for Business
- Adhere to Ready for Business and Beyond My Control standards as per the CB Way
Customer Service
- Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service at checkout
- Direct customers to the appropriate staff for assistance
- Comply with the company dress code
Safety (OHSA) Requirements
- Ensure compliance with OHSA regulations for customer and staff safety
- Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager
Security Awareness
- Follow system password controls at the till point
- Safeguard and transport cash as per Cashbuild Way requirements
