Cape Union Mart is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Marker Maker to join our team. This role is essential in optimizing fabric utilization and delivering precise marker layouts to support design and production efficiency. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with accuracy to enhance our marker-making process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create markers for production that maximize fabric efficiency without compromising quality.
- Interpret patterns and technical specifications to develop accurate marker layouts.
- Collaborate with pattern makers, designers, and production teams to address layout challenges.
- Ensure all markers meet style, size, and fabric specifications.
- Utilize CAD systems and marker-making software to optimize layouts (e.g., Gerber AccuMark, Lectra).
- Maintain an organized marker library for reference and reuse.
- Monitor fabric consumption and suggest efficiency improvements.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualification in Fashion Technology, Garment Construction, or a related field.
- Proficiency in marker-making software (e.g., Gerber AccuMark, Lectra, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of fabric types, garment construction, and production processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to precision.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in marker making within the apparel industry is preferred.
