Junior Product Developer – Pick n Pay

As a Junior Product Developer at Pick n Pay, you will drive the development of innovative products from concept to launch, enhancing our category offerings, boosting sales, and strengthening our market leadership. Collaboration with Commercial teams and vendor partners is key, with a focus on the protein category.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant Degree/Diploma in Consumer Science, Food Science, or Product Development
- 1-2 years of product development experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting sensory and nutritional data
- Knowledge of food regulatory guidelines and labeling
- Ability to independently manage multiple projects
- Excellent communication and presentation skills

- Skilled in recipe creation and adaptation based on trends and dietary needs
- Experience in training staff on recipes and costing strategies

Key Responsibilities
- Execute the Innovation Agenda by identifying and developing new and improved products
- Troubleshoot formulations and optimize recipes for cost and scalability
- Document processes and prepare reports for stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to product development and packaging processes
- Support successful product launches within deadlines
- Monitor product sales and profitability
- Collaborate with teams in line with company values
- Develop contingency plans to address development gaps
