BDO 2026 Tax Trainee – SAIT Registered Traineeship
BDO Tax is looking for motivated individuals to join our team as 2026 Tax Trainees. This SAIT-registered 3-year traineeship offers comprehensive exposure to taxation, providing hands-on experience under the guidance of industry experts.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and submitting tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts.
- Prepare provisional tax returns (first, second, and third).
- Calculate tax liabilities and finalize income tax assessments.
- Handle payroll tax compliance.
- Prepare VAT returns, registrations, and opinions.
- Identify tax risks for audits on a multi-disciplinary basis.
- Support tax audits and investigations, liaising with tax authorities.
- Draft responses to SARS queries.
- Write tax opinions and reports.
- Maintain ethical and professional conduct in tax practice.
- Register taxpayers and finalize income tax, payroll tax, and VAT returns.
- Draft memorandums and formulate responses for Alternative Dispute Resolutions (ADR).
- Provide tax opinions on disputes, business models, investment, and estate planning.
- Draft Voluntary Disclosure Programme (VDP) applications.
- Research tax legislation, regulations, and case law for accurate tax advice.
- Collaborate with senior professionals on tax planning opportunities and risk assessments.
- Draft articles on tax-related topics.
- Engage in training, workshops, and professional development.
Qualifications
- Senior Certificate and relevant B.Com degree.
- Completed or studying towards a B.Com Honours in Taxation or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of tax legislation and tax law.
