Job Purpose
To ensure product range, specifications, quality, packaging, and food safety requirements are met at all times.
Minimum Requirements
- Food Technologist diploma, postgraduate degree, or Food Science/equivalent qualification with 5+ years of experience in the food industry.
- Production knowledge in Meal Solutions (high-risk ready-to-eat foods) and Bakery.
- Strong understanding of applicable regulations (DoH, DAFF) and standards (SANS).
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Experience in audits is advantageous.
- Familiarity with R146 Labelling regulations for packaging briefs.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage suppliers through engagements, visits, and technical meetings.
- Monitor product quality via store checks and evaluations.
- Support new product development through trials and product analysis (chemical, microbiological, physical).
- Strengthen supplier relationships and ensure compliance with regulations and Pick n Pay standards.
- Provide technical guidance and innovation insights to suppliers.
- Track supplier progress toward Pick n Pay Sustainability targets.
- Maintain accurate product and packaging specifications, ensuring regulatory and brand compliance.
- Oversee quality and food safety across the supply chain.
- Manage product specifications and technical catalogues.
- Maintain packaging and supplier databases.
- Ensure efficient category management with strong time and admin skills.
- Participate in supplier and category meetings with technical input.
