Reporting to the Senior Engineering Foreman, you’ll drive the maintenance and repair of underground Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) while championing the highest safety, health, and environmental standards. Job Description
As an Artisan Diesel Mechanic, you’ll ensure the optimal performance of machinery, diesel-powered vehicles, and mechanical systems through expert maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, assemble, and inspect machines or mechanical components.
- Diagnose issues through tests and troubleshoot faults promptly.
- Conduct reliable repairs to maximize equipment uptime.
- Advise on preventive maintenance and document all work.
- Ensure compliance with Mine Health & Safety Act regulations.
- Plan maintenance schedules in line with SAP PM and production needs.
- Train and develop team members while upholding a ZERO HARM culture.
This role is within the VUP Engineering Department at a CL level, reporting to the Senior Engineering Foreman.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 / N3 / NQF Level 4 with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science.
- Relevant Trade Certificate (Diesel Mechanic).
- Active Proto team membership (advantageous).
- Valid EB/Code 8 Driver’s License.
Experience Required:
- 3+ years as a TMM Diesel Mechanic in underground mining.
- Expertise in maintaining:
- Drill Rigs (DD320, DD321, DD420, DD421 & DD422i).
- LHDs (LH410, LH517i & LH621i), Dump Trucks (TH430, TH540 & TH551i).
- Bolters (DS421, DS422i, DS412i, DS411), Normet Shotcrete, Manitou & Agicars.
- Proficiency in technical drawings, SAP PM, and MS Office.
