Responsibilities
As a Long Haul Driver at Shakaskraal Bakery, you will ensure the safe and timely delivery of goods over long distances while adhering to company and road safety standards.
Key Duties Include:
- Transport bulk or bagged goods efficiently, ensuring deliveries are prompt and defect-free.
- Maintain clear communication with dispatch regarding delivery schedules, delays, and issues.
- Operate vehicles responsibly, ensuring compliance with safe driving practices at all times.
- Keep accurate logs of fuel consumption, vehicle maintenance, and cargo loads to meet company standards.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections, including checking tires, lights, trailer couplings, oil, and water levels.
- Maintain trucks in excellent condition, ensuring cleanliness, equipment availability, and reporting defects promptly.
- Perform basic troubleshooting for vehicle breakdowns, including tire changes.
- Stay reachable on a company-provided cell phone during work hours.
- Avoid any speed or traffic violations.
- Adhere to all road regulations, company policies, and safe driving protocols.
Qualifications
- Valid Code 14 license (essential).
- Matric certificate or equivalent.
- Proven experience in long-distance driving.
- Strong navigation skills.
- Ability to handle heavy lifting when required.
- Thorough knowledge of road safety regulations.
- Effective communication skills.
