Position Summary
The Financial Controller will oversee the finance function, ensuring end-to-end accounting processes, financial controls, compliance, and regulatory reporting. This role is pivotal in driving Southern Africa’s financial strategy, maximizing profitability, and enhancing return on investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the financial strategy, structuring operations to align with organizational and regional growth objectives.
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business activities.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and guidance to senior stakeholders, supporting business decisions and growth initiatives.
- Drive budget preparation, monitor variances, and report financial performance to regional and corporate stakeholders.
- Assess strategic opportunities, including investments, acquisitions, and partnerships, with robust financial modeling.
- Ensure tax compliance and timely reporting in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee financial systems, ensuring robustness and scalability to support business operations and growth.
- Manage external audits, acting as the primary liaison to ensure thorough and compliant processes.
- Mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Coordinate annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and evaluation of major sales bids.
- Ensure adherence to IFRS and ethical accounting practices across all financial operations.
Education, Experience & Skills
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; internationally recognized accounting qualification.
- 12–15 years of experience, with 5+ years in a senior financial role (preferably in a similar industry).
- Big 4 experience (PwC, Deloitte, EY, KPMG) is advantageous.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP).
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to present financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
- Commercial acumen, leadership, and adaptability.
- Willingness to travel regionally (20–30%) and internationally as required.
- Fluency in English; additional regional languages are a plus.
