Department Description
The Investment Compliance (IC) team is a key part of the Assurance function at Allan Gray, responsible for first-line portfolio compliance monitoring and second-line assurance of investment and trading controls. The team ensures all Group investments comply with client mandates, regulations, and internal policies. IC provides compliance guidance to investment-related functions and plays a crucial role in identifying, analyzing, and managing investment risk across client portfolios. Using Charles River IMS (CRIMS), IC operationalizes investment restrictions to maintain robust oversight.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide guidance to Investment, Trading, Institutional Client Services, and regional teams on permissible investments and applicable limits
- Research and interpret investment limits tied to new legislation or emerging markets
- Evaluate existing compliance controls and propose enhancements for efficiency
- Implement and maintain systems and processes to ensure adherence to investment restrictions
- Monitor portfolio compliance using CRIMS
- Develop and maintain CRIMS rule coding for client, regulatory, and internal limits
- Conduct data analysis and generate compliance reports to support oversight

Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant degree in Business, Commerce, or IT with strong academic results
- Investment-related studies (CFA or similar advantageous)
- 3+ years in financial services with investment exposure
