Job Description
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Lead Technology – Domestic High Value Pan Africa to oversee our Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) payments team. This role is pivotal in managing our in-house developed RTGS application within CIB Payments Technology across multiple African markets. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in real-time payments infrastructure, RTGS systems, and a proven track record of leading cross-border payment solutions in Pan-African financial institutions or fintech environments.
Key Critical Requirements & Experience:
- 8-10 years of Information Technology experience, specifically in payments or RTGS environments
- Relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry certification
- Strong background in Banking or Corporate Investment Banking
- Expertise in SWIFT payments and regulatory requirements for high-value transactions
- Experience implementing payment solutions across multiple African countries
- Proven leadership in cross-functional teams and delivering scalable payment infrastructure
- Strategic experience defining enterprise-wide technical strategies in high-risk, complex environments
- Knowledge of core banking systems, payment switches, and cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Risk-aware mindset with strong decision-making and analytical skills
Key Accountabilities:
- Define and execute the technology strategy for real-time and cross-border payment platforms across Africa
- Architect, develop, and integrate RTGS systems aligned with central bank requirements in each market
- Set product/service direction, drive solution design, and ensure performance optimization
- Act as the senior business interface, guiding strategic technical decisions for cost-to-value alignment
- Lead cross-functional collaboration to scope, prioritize, and integrate solutions
- Ensure alignment with Group Architecture and Infrastructure standards
- Monitor and optimize system performance with a bank-wide perspective
- Drive DevOps practices and delivery management for high-performance teams
- Foster a high-performance team culture through agile working, coaching, and talent alignment
- Manage financials, vendors, risk, and governance for payment technology initiatives
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field
