Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as the functional Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) and Security Coordinator, supporting HSE and Security Management Systems Minimum Control Standards, programs, and compliance. Focus areas include Incident Investigation, Health & Safety Risk Management, Security, Training, and Internal Auditing.
Specific Responsibilities
- Implement and support HSE Management System Minimum Control Standards and Corporate Facility Security Requirements.
- Promote understanding of H&S roles and responsibilities across the business.
- Drive HSE initiatives, including Legal Compliance, IVMS, Health Track, BBS, Hazard Identification, 5S, Transportation Safety, and Incident Management.
- Enhance Safety Culture through global initiatives.
- Collaborate with H&S Business Line Managers to improve HSE programs and accountability.
- Identify HSE training needs, develop training plans, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct and monitor HSE training effectiveness, including at Woodmead Head Office.
- Partner with HR, H&S Personnel, and Medical Service Providers to ensure medical surveillance compliance.
- Lead incident investigations and conduct internal audits.
- Support the Business Line Internal Auditing Program, reviewing audit plans and corrective actions.
- Evaluate corrective and preventive action effectiveness.
- Oversee HSE and Sustainability reporting.
- Develop and review Emergency Response Plans and participate in response teams.
- Lead and support SHE Committees and H&S initiatives.
- Execute additional responsibilities as directed by management.
Qualifications
Education
- Matric
- Safety Diploma or equivalent
- SAMTRAC or NEBOSH
- Legal Liability certification
- Lead Incident Investigator certification
- Risk Practitioner (NQF 5 or equivalent)
- ISO 14001 and 45001 implementation/auditing (advantageous)
Experience
- 5–10 years in Incident Investigations and Risk Assessments
- Internal audits of Minimum Control Standards (high-risk focus)
- Training on MCS system procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Outlook
- Code B South African driver’s license
Required Skills
- Analytical, organized, and able to prioritize under pressure
- Independent with strong decision-making abilities
- Skilled in explaining technical HSE topics to all levels
- Proficient in HSE standards (ISO 14001, 45001, local legislation)
- Strong leadership, influencing, and collaboration skills
- Problem-solving aptitude with high ethical standards
- Change management and team-building capabilities
- Excellent communication and mentorship skills
