IT / Business Business Analyst (FTC / 9 months) – Santam
Santam Specialist Solutions has an exciting opportunity for an IT / Business Business Analyst to join the Business Change department. This role is pivotal in conducting a comprehensive as-is landscape assessment across 10 specialist insurance entities to drive strategic decision-making and harmonization initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination
- Build relationships and gather insights from stakeholders across all 10 specialist entities.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions with technical and functional teams.
- Act as the primary liaison between central project leadership and entities.
Data Collection & Analysis
- Design and deploy data collection tools (e.g., surveys, templates, interview guides).
- Analyze and validate data on operating models, systems, automation, and document management.
- Identify patterns, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
Documentation & Mapping
- Create detailed current-state documentation, including process maps, system inventories, and functional overviews.
- Develop heatmaps, maturity assessments, and comparison dashboards for each entity.
- Summarize findings into executive-level reports.
Insight Generation & Recommendations
- Support the synthesis of findings to define future-state opportunities.
- Collaborate with project teams to contribute to roadmap development.
Reporting & Presentation
- Prepare clear, concise reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Assist in developing executive scorecards and strategic recommendations.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years as a Business Analyst, with 2+ years in insurance or financial services.
- Strong background in operating model assessments, process mapping, and system analysis.
- Experience working across multiple business units in decentralized environments.
- Knowledge of insurance value chains (underwriting, claims, policy admin) is a plus.
- Relevant degree/diploma (e.g., B.Comm, B.Sc., IT, Business Analysis, or Engineering).

- Process Modelling: Proficiency in process mapping tools.

- Initiative: Proactively identify gaps and drive solutions.
