Job Purpose:
Operate and maintain Sheetline Extruder Machines, converting PVC blends into medical-grade sheeting for intravenous bags. Ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with pharmaceutical standards while maintaining accurate batch documentation.
Key Outputs:
Machine Operation and Setup:
- Operate Sheetline Extruders, managing setup, production, and shutdown.
- Perform die size changeovers (28”, 40”, 54”, 60”) with minimal downtime.
Quality Assurance and Documentation:
- Conduct in-process sampling and quality checks per SOPs.
- Generate daily batch records, ensuring GMP compliance.
- Record production transactions via Oracle.
Compliance with Safety and GMP Standards:
- Adhere to GMP and OHS Act regulations, enforcing safety protocols.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Resolve machine and quality issues, optimizing performance.
- Minimize waste through root cause analysis.
- Perform extrusion cleaning and minor maintenance.
Supporting Production Processes:
- Assist in team tasks across the Sheeting Section.
- Manage hopper-filler duties to maintain material feed.
Waste and Efficiency Management:
- Reduce downtime via proactive problem-solving and maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Science.
- Technical qualification in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Engineering (advantageous).
- Basic Plastic Skills Level II Certificate (recommended).
- Computer literacy (SCADA/Oracle proficiency a plus).
Experience:
- 3–4 years in machine operation, ideally in plastic manufacturing (extrusion, moulding, etc.).
- Industry machinery operation experience.
- GMP knowledge in pharmaceutical production.
- 3 months’ experience with batch documentation.
