About the Role
Keller Executive Search is seeking an experienced Off Trade Key Accounts Manager for a leading wine producer based in Cape Town. This role is ideal for a sales professional with deep expertise in the alcoholic beverage industry, responsible for managing strategic retail partnerships and driving revenue growth across South Africa.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute targeted account strategies to maximize market penetration and revenue.
Market Intelligence: Analyze industry trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong partnerships with major retailers, including Shoprite, pick n pay, Spar, Makro, and other wholesale distributors.
Reporting: Provide detailed sales performance insights, market analysis, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
Sales Growth: Drive volume and revenue performance to exceed targets within your assigned national accounts.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with marketing and regional sales teams to ensure seamless execution of strategies.
Requirements
Essential Experience:
- Proven relationships with major South African retailers and wholesalers
- 10+ years of experience in the alcoholic beverage industry
- Track record of achieving sales targets in FMCG/alcohol sector
- 5+ years of key account management experience in off-trade retail channels
Personal Attributes:
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- High integrity, crucial for working in a family-owned business
- Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement
- Resilient and results-driven
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans
Technical Skills:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (pivot tables, dashboards, data analysis)
- Expertise in Adobe Acrobat for documentation
- Strong analytical and business intelligence capabilities
- Excellent negotiation skills
Practical Requirements:
- Clean criminal record
- Valid driver’s license with reliable personal vehicle
- Flexibility to attend client hospitality events (dinners, golf days)
- Willingness to travel extensively (approximately 75% nationwide)
