THE JOB AT A GLANCE
As a Monitoring Officer at Rand Mutual, you will report to the Compliance Officer. Your core responsibility will be conducting periodic compliance monitoring reviews to identify non-compliance issues within the business. You will also develop and execute effective compliance and risk monitoring plans (CRMPs), oversee monitoring reviews, and compile detailed reports across the RMA Group and its associates.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Monitoring Planning and Implementation
- Complete CRMPs and themed monitoring as per the approved Annual Compliance Plan.
- Facilitate Regulatory Control Workshops with relevant departments ahead of planned monitoring reviews.
- Enhance the compliance control environment by updating CRMPs to reflect new legislative developments.
Monitoring Reviews
- Conduct regulatory, legislative, and policy compliance reviews through manual and electronic systems.
- Assess the effectiveness of existing controls and action plans.
- Maintain working papers and adhere to the Compliance Monitoring Methodology.
Monitoring Reporting
- Prepare monitoring reports in line with Group Compliance standards.
- Present findings to stakeholders and manage agreed action plans.
- Log monitoring findings on the central register and track remediation progress to closure.
Adhoc Monitoring and Other Initiatives
- Perform adhoc investigations and monitoring as needed.
- Support regulatory project implementations.
- Collaborate with divisional teams, internal audit, and compliance/risk functions.
- Handle administrative tasks assigned by management.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE?
- LLB, BCom, or Internal Audit Degree, or
- Occupation Certificate: Compliance Officer (NQF Level 6) (Advantageous)
- Professional Compliance Designations (e.g., CPrac (SA), AML CPrac (SA)) (Advantageous)
- 2–4 years’ experience in a similar role
- CISA Membership (Advantageous)
- Knowledge of FAIS, Insurance Act, Long-Term Insurance Act, Policyholder Protection Rules, AML (Preferred)
- Strong analytical, planning, and reporting skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and present effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative
