Senior Health, Safety & Security Coordinator – South Africa

Primary Responsibilities
As the Senior Health, Safety & Security Coordinator, you will serve as a functional expert in Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), and Security, ensuring compliance with HSE Management Systems and Corporate Facility Security Requirements. Your primary focus will be on incident investigation, risk management, security protocols, training, and internal auditing.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Implement and support HSE Management System Minimum Control Standards and Corporate Facility Security Requirements.
  • Drive HSE roles and responsibilities awareness across the business.
  • Oversee key programs such as Legal Compliance, IVMS, Health Track, BBS, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, 5S, Transportation Safety, and Incident Management.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance safety culture and global HSE standards.
  • Collaborate with HSE and business leaders to align programs with national and organizational objectives.
  • Identify HSE training needs, develop training matrices, and conduct sessions in line with regulatory and SGS requirements.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and implement improvements as needed.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure medical surveillance aligns with local regulations and client expectations.
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with HSE and security standards.
  • Support business lines in audit planning and corrective action reporting.
  • Champion assigned HSE projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee HSE reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
  • Develop and review Emergency Response Plans and participate in emergency response activities.
  • Lead and support the SHE Committee at the head office.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to HSE personnel.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications
Education

  • Matric
  • Safety Diploma or equivalent.
  • SAMTRAC or NEBOSH certification.
  • Legal Liability training.
  • Lead Incident Investigator certification.
  • Risk Practitioner (NQF 5 or equivalent).
  • ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 implementation/auditing (advantageous).

Experience

  • 5–10 years in incident investigations and risk assessments.
  • Internal audit experience with high-risk focus.
  • Training experience in HSE systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook).
  • Report and document writing experience.
  • Valid Code B South African driver’s license.
