Purpose of the Role:
The Branch Manager is responsible for the financial, business, marketing, and people management of the branch.

Critical Outcomes:

Financial Management

  • Continuously manage and monitor branch performance in:
    • New business loan advances
    • Interest revenue
    • Fee income
    • Branch expenses
    • Age analysis
    • Provisions and impairments

Business/Compliance Management

  • Ensure implementation and compliance with internal policies.
  • Maintain NCA compliance for lending policy and display requirements.
  • Enforce collections policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to policies by all branch staff.
  • Investigate and report non-compliance to the Area Manager.
  • Monitor and report suspicious activities or fraud risks.
  • Ensure accurate and timely branch reporting.
  • Maintain 100% accuracy in daily/monthly branch balancing.
  • Oversee maintenance of company hardware and software.

Sales and Marketing Management

  • Develop and execute sales and marketing plans to enhance branch performance.
  • Measure plan effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Promote marketing and cross-selling of non-loan products.
  • Drive community engagement through targeted marketing initiatives.

People Management

  • Lead, motivate, and monitor branch staff performance.
  • Foster 360° communication between branches and Area Managers.
  • Resolve issues and make informed decisions.
  • Identify training needs and facilitate staff development.
  • Recommend staff promotions, appointments, movements, and salary adjustments to Area Managers.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Matric. Sales and Marketing qualifications preferred.

Experience:

  • 2+ years in microfinance or banking with a proven track record.
  • Minimum 2 years in a managerial role.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with empathy and assertiveness.
  • Numeracy and literacy proficiency.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of company products (loans and Consumer Finance).
  • Proficiency in computer systems and reporting.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Multilingual ability (minimum two local languages).
  • Compliance-driven with a proactive work ethic.
