Assistant Branch Manager Opportunity at Shoprite Holdings – Medirite Plus Arcon Park

Medirite Plus Arcon Park is seeking a dedicated Assistant Branch Manager to join our team and support the management of our store operations. As part of Shoprite Holdings, you will play a key role in driving branch performance while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Maximize sustainable branch sales by:

  • Managing, supporting, and monitoring sales of specialized health and beauty ranges (Skincare, Cosmetics, Vitamins, Personal Care).
  • Minimizing shrinkage and wastage.
  • Maintaining replenishment processes to ensure excellent shelf availability.
  • Upholding shop floor presentation and pricing standards.
  • Executing pricing and promotional strategies.
  • Exceeding customer expectations and achieving sales/profit targets.
  • Leading and developing team members effectively.

Job Objectives

  1. Sales Maximization

    • Drive gross profit through effective management of key profitability factors.
    • Maintain optimal stock levels and ordering processes.
    • Ensure 100% compliance with price changes.
    • Address and improve underperforming sales staff.
  2. Wastage & Shrinkage Control

    • Analyze weekly wastage reports and implement corrective actions.
    • Reduce shrinkage by enforcing preventive measures for high-risk items.
  3. Sales Reporting

    • Provide accurate, timely reports to the Regional Retail Manager.
    • Identify challenges and recommend solutions for continuous improvement.
  4. Merchandising & Stock Availability

    • Ensure adherence to company merchandising layouts and promotional standards.
    • Coordinate stock replenishment, including inter-branch transfers (IBTs) when necessary.
  5. Customer Experience

    • Enhance customer loyalty through a welcoming and efficient shopping environment.
  6. People Management

    • Lead, coach, and motivate staff to meet performance and service standards.
    • Conduct training and manage disciplinary actions as needed.
  7. Compliance & Safety

    • Maintain hygiene, housekeeping, and audit compliance.
    • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and legal requirements.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Grade 12 qualification.

Experience

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years of retail sales management/supervisory experience.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Numeracy and sales expertise.
  • Bilingual (preferably Afrikaans & English).
  • Leadership, administrative, and customer service proficiency.
  • Knowledge of payment procedures and retail systems (e.g., ShopPos, OBS).
  • Understanding of supply chain, merchandising, and regulatory standards.
  • Familiarity with safety, hygiene, and money market transaction requirements.
