Business Development Manager – Takealot Freight Forwarding Sales

Reports To: Head of Takealot Freight Forwarding

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales targets by acquiring high-quality clients.
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline with strategic client focus.
  • Develop and implement innovative client acquisition strategies.
  • Conduct needs analysis for prospective clients.
  • Provide senior management with insights on client sourcing strategies and service improvements.
  • Analyze data to drive actionable insights and reporting.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to address client needs and enhance partnerships.
  • Work cross-functionally to optimize business performance and client relationships.
  • Present to and build rapport with senior managers and clients.
  • Deliver weekly and monthly performance reports aligned with SLAs.
  • Track and analyze client-specific KPIs, preparing performance reviews for stakeholders.
  • Ensure client accountability on service delivery SLAs.
  • Travel within South Africa as needed.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven experience presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong lead generation skills (digital and offline).
  • Track record in business growth, client acquisition, and revenue generation.
  • Proficiency in Excel (Google Sheets) & PowerPoint (Google Slides).
  • Commercial mindset with strong negotiation skills.
  • Data-driven, analytical, and solutions-oriented.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to cultivate senior-level relationships.
  • Strong prioritization and time management.
  • Adaptability, teamwork, and a proactive approach.
  • Comfortable managing multiple opportunities simultaneously.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma.
  • 3–5 years of freight forwarding sales experience.
  • Experience in lead generation and client acquisition.
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets & PowerPoint/Google Slides.
  • E-commerce experience is advantageous.
