Product Owner (Onsite) – Purpose of the Role
The Product Owner (Onsite) is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of a defined digital product stream. This role ensures that product vision and strategy are translated into clear, prioritised backlog items and actionable sprint deliverables, enabling high-quality, customer-focused digital solutions through effective Agile execution.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership and Backlog Management

Own, manage, and continuously refine the product backlog to ensure it is prioritised, visible, and up to date

Translate the Product Manager’s vision and roadmap into well-defined user stories, acceptance criteria, and designs

Align features and releases with agreed roadmap milestones and business priorities

Ensure backlog items are transparent, detailed, and ready for sprint execution
Agile Delivery and Sprint Execution

Manage sprint cycles and support delivery teams by clarifying requirements throughout the sprint

Facilitate Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives

Track sprint-level KPIs such as velocity, story completion, and defect rates
-
Conduct post-sprint retrospectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

Work closely with development, UX/UI, and cross-functional teams to define and support customer journeys

Fulfil a cross-functional role by enabling effective communication between business units and delivery teams

Coordinate release planning and communicate progress, risks, timelines, and changes to stakeholders

Identify blockers and collaborate with teams to resolve them efficiently
Product Validation and Performance Tracking

Validate product increments with users to ensure value delivery and alignment with requirements

Track feature performance metrics and apply data-driven insights to enhance product outcomes

Provide continuous feedback loops from delivery into strategic planning for the Product Manager
Documentation, Training, and Enablement

Document user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria to build and maintain an accessible knowledge base
-
Ensure comprehensive documentation across all phases of feature development

Develop guides, instructional materials, and support resources for cross-functional teams
-
Support training, adoption, and smooth handover of new releases to business users
-
Promote continuous learning and best practices within delivery teams
Minimum Requirements
-
Grade 12 or equivalent
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field
-
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Product Owner
-
Proven experience in software projects and digital solutions delivery
Skills and Experience
-
Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies and sprint-based delivery
-
Backlog management and user story mapping expertise
-
Tactical execution across the product lifecycle
-
Understanding of UX principles and acceptance criteria definition

Practical experience with product and delivery tools
-
Scrum certification (advantageous)
