Department Description
The Investment Compliance (IC) team is a key part of the Assurance function at Allan Gray. We are responsible for first-line portfolio compliance monitoring and second-line assurance of investment and trading controls. Our core mandate is to ensure all Group investments adhere to client mandates, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
Additionally, we provide compliance support and guidance to investment teams while identifying and managing investment risk across client portfolios. Leveraging Charles River IMS (CRIMS), we operationalize investment restrictions to maintain robust compliance oversight.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide compliance guidance to Investment, Trading, Institutional Client Services, and regional teams on permissible investments and applicable limits.
- Research and interpret investment restrictions related to new regulations or emerging markets.
- Assess and enhance IC controls to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implement and maintain compliance systems and processes to enforce investment restrictions.
- Monitor portfolio compliance using CRIMS and conduct rule coding to reflect limits accurately.
- Perform data analysis and generate compliance reports for informed decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant degree in Business/Commerce or IT with strong academic performance
- Investment or finance-related studies (e.g., CFA advantageous but not required)
- Minimum 3 years of financial services experience with an investment focus
