Key Responsibilities
Client Onboarding
- Conduct client identification and verification of KYC/FICA documents.
- Address client queries and escalate complex onboarding cases when needed.
- Perform adverse media, sanctions, and PEP screenings.
- Execute initial client risk assessments and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for high-risk clients, PEPs, and RCAs.
- Escalate PEPs, RCAs, and high-risk cases to senior management or the EDD committee for review.
- Maintain accurate records of onboarding documentation.
Ongoing Due Diligence (ODD)
- Update and manage client information on ORMS and internal systems.
- Conduct periodic reviews (1, 3, and 5-year cycles) per business standards.
- Handle due diligence trigger events and termination processes.
- Perform screenings upon termination and update system statuses accordingly.
- Investigate and resolve PEP/adverse media screening alerts.
- Reassess client risk ratings when applicable.
- Perform due diligence on third parties and monitor transactions.
Projects & Compliance Support
- Assist in regulatory and remediation projects.
- Participate in system UAT for ORMS, AML System, and DRA updates.
- Support Sanlam initiatives related to AML/CFT/CPF and process enhancements.
Advice & Reporting
- Provide AML/ODD guidance to Sanlam Investment Group stakeholders.
- Compile KYC/FICA files for audits and compliance reviews.
- Respond to information requests from compliance teams and auditors.
- Generate internal and external management reports.
- Draft and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Regulatory Reporting & Risk Management
- Monitor and respond to FIC regulatory requests (s27, s32, s34, s35).
- Submit STRs, SARs, TFTRs, and TFARs to the FIC within mandated deadlines.
- File TPRs, CTRs, and IFTRs as required by legislation.
- Maintain auditable records for 5 years.
- Investigate suspicious activity and escalate findings for review.
Client Experience
- Ensure seamless onboarding aligned with client expectations.
- Address external due diligence requests and KYC-related inquiries.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce, Business Science, or related AML/Risk/Compliance field.
- 3+ years of AML/CFT experience in financial services; asset management exposure preferred.
- Proficiency in AML/CFT, sanctions, and financial crime risk management systems.
- Strong knowledge of screening tools, analytical software, and investigative technologies.
