Kumba Iron Ore
We produce high-grade iron ore, a critical component in steel used worldwide in construction and manufacturing. Our operations span exploration, mining, processing, shipping, and sales, with key sites in South Africa’s Northern Cape, Centurion (Gauteng), and Saldanha Bay (Western Cape).
Job Description
As our Driver, your responsibilities will include:
Safety, Health, and Environment
- Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Comply with SHE policies and escalate unsafe practices or risks immediately.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping for compliance and safety.
Performance and Delivery
- Safely load, move, and shift equipment to prevent damage or injury.
- Select appropriate lifting tools to meet procedures and deadlines.
Equipment Inspection
- Verify equipment availability and functionality before starting tasks.
- Report defects or deviations to supervisors promptly.
Assistance and Teamwork
- Collaborate with colleagues to secure necessary resources.
- Support supervisors and coworkers within your scope of competence.
Pre-Shift Inspections
- Conduct thorough vehicle and equipment checks to ensure safety and performance.
- Monitor operations for deviations and escalate issues for resolution.
This role is part of our Transport team, reporting to the Transport Coordinator/Planning Advisor at a J6 level.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 certification
- Valid South African Driver’s License
Technical Knowledge
- Understanding of vehicle/equipment components and functionality.
- Ability to interpret manufacturing standards, blueprints, and manuals.
- Operational experience in maintenance.
Technical Skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in English and local languages as required.
