Platform Data Engineer
We’re looking for a Platform Data Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team, a group of innovators shaping the future of data across our organization. In this role, you’ll design and build scalable, high-performance data solutions on AWS, ensuring seamless data flow to drive business insights and decision-making.
You’ll be part of a dynamic team within Client Engagement Delivery, enabling personalized, data-driven strategies for one of South Africa’s most trusted banks. Collaborating with the Systems & Platform team, you’ll ensure robust data infrastructure supports intelligent client engagement, including our Salesforce-powered communications.
From building pipelines for millions of client interactions to optimizing data architectures, your contributions will have a real, measurable impact.
What We Are Looking For
Must-Haves:
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
- Strong expertise in SQL, Python, and version control tools (e.g., Git).
- Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native data architecture.
- Proven ability to design and manage data pipelines and models.
- Self-driven with the ability to lead initiatives independently.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud or Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
- Exposure to vendor data integration and file-based processing.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain cloud-native data pipelines on AWS.
- Develop and optimize stored procedures and data streams.
- Integrate data from APIs, databases, and flat files into warehouses or lakes.
- Map and incorporate external vendor data into our ecosystem.
- Contribute to end-to-end platform design aligned with business needs.
- Conduct peer reviews and uphold version control best practices.
- Collaborate on data architecture, modeling, and ingestion strategies.
- Mentor junior engineers and ensure solution scalability and performance.
Education:
- A relevant degree in Information Technology or Data Analysis.
