In South Africa, we operate in the Northern Cape, with a head office in Gauteng and a port facility in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
Job Description
As a Dispatcher, you will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing mining production operations. Key duties include:
- Ensuring strict adherence to health and safety protocols.
- Monitoring equipment utilization and maintenance to maximize availability during shifts.
- Managing in-shift production activities via systems to enhance efficiency.
- Overseeing shift handover processes to minimize inefficiencies.
- Verifying data accuracy from operator inputs and automated system logs.
- Tracking secondary equipment performance to support production needs.
- Utilizing HPGPS systems to monitor loading accuracy (Provision, MineWare Guided Spotting, MineCare).
- Maintaining fuel levels and distributing shift reports.
- Assigning correct statuses and reason codes for equipment (production, delay, downtime).
- Ensuring drills and loading tools are allocated to accurate locations with correct design files.
- Managing operator assignments and system access for seamless operations.
- Setting priorities in line with weekly schedules and barring equipment accordingly.
- Optimizing parameters (blending, truck queuing, shovel hang-ups) to boost production.
This role is part of the Mining (MIN) team at Band 7, reporting to the MIOC Coordinator.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate or N3 Technical.
- Higher National Qualification (NQF5) in Computer Science, IT, System Support, or Mining Management.
- Fleet Management System (Dispatch) certification (advantageous).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Valid South African driver’s license (Code B).
Experience
- 3-5 years in mining production operations.
- Strong knowledge of equipment capabilities and limitations.
- Understanding of the mining lifecycle, value chain, and operational impacts.
- Familiarity with CAD systems (mapping, GPS tracking, automated routing).
- Knowledge of radio protocols and GIS software.
- Experience with MMS, FMS, and safety management software.
