As the Senior Portfolio Manager: Bancassurance and Telecommunication, you will be the crucial link between Rand Mutual and our strategic partners. Your key responsibilities include managing, expanding, and optimizing the value of key partnerships, designing profitable business models, and executing strategies to drive revenue growth. You will lead a high-performing team to ensure exceptional partnership engagement, sales performance, and operational efficiency.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Strategic Partner Management & Business Model Innovation
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard strategic partners while developing commercially viable business cases aligned with Rand Mutual’s strategy.
- Design and negotiate partnership models, value propositions, and go-to-market strategies for maximum mutual benefit.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager, ensuring effective communication, goal alignment, and long-term partnership success.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities to refine portfolio strategy.
Front-End Sales Management
- Develop and implement short- and long-term sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Engage with senior leaders in partner organizations to uncover sales opportunities and align business objectives.
- Manage the sales pipeline with accurate reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Deliver compelling presentations and business cases to partners and internal stakeholders.
Partnership Development and Retention
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at partner organizations.
- Conduct regular executive reviews to address partner needs, reinforce value, and enhance engagement.
- Oversee partner lifecycle management, including renewals, upsell/cross-sell initiatives, and risk mitigation.
- Ensure timely delivery of services and KPIs, resolving issues proactively.
Operational Excellence & Commercial Delivery
- Collaborate with partners to optimize operational efficiency, revenue growth, and mutual success.
- Analyze and report on partnership performance metrics—customer satisfaction, ROI, and growth potential.
- Implement best practices in governance, risk management, and compliance.
- Support Contract negotiations and commercial term discussions.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of specialists and account executives to achieve performance targets.
- Set clear goals, monitor progress, and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop talent through training, mentorship, and career growth opportunities.
- Allocate resources effectively to maximize portfolio success.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE?
- NQF Level 7: Degree in Business Management
- Postgraduate Degree in Business Management (advantageous)
- RE5
- Key Individual (advantageous)
- CFP (advantageous)
- 5–8 years in Financial Services, with 5 years in long-term insurance
- 3 years of management experience
- Proven sales track record, including executive-level engagement
- Experience building and managing strategic partnerships
- Strong financial services, legal, and insurance product knowledge (group benefits)
- Expertise in key account management and business development
- Budget and team management skills
- Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets
