What will you do?
Core Tasks:
- Represent Sanlam’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Unit in stakeholder engagements.
- Draft and review legal documents (e.g., pleadings, notices, contracts).
- Deliver timely, practical legal advice to business units.
- Analyze disputes and negotiate/manage resolution strategies.
- Engage external lawyers and oversee litigation matters.
- Mentor junior legal advisors.
- Research and draft legal opinions.
- Identify cost-effective dispute resolution alternatives.
What will make you successful in this role?
Role Requirements:
Qualifications:
- LLB or higher law degree.
- Admitted attorney or advocate.
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years’ litigation experience (court appearances and ADR).
Knowledge and Skills:
- Expertise in FSRA, Insurance Act, Prudential Standards, Retirement Funds Act, FAIS, and related regulations.
- Strong Contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in legal research, opinion writing, and pleadings.
- Understanding of litigation/ADR processes and financial services compliance.
- Commercial contract acumen.
- MS Office proficiency.
