As a Data Quality and Governance Lead, you will oversee data quality control, governance frameworks, and operational excellence to support business success. Position Overview
The Data Quality and Governance Lead is responsible for leading data governance, stewardship, and quality management initiatives across PwC Africa. This role ensures enterprise data meets high standards of accuracy, consistency, and compliance with global and local regulations. You will collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement data strategies, drive maturity programs, and champion a data-driven culture.
Key Responsibilities
4. Data Governance
- Define and implement data governance frameworks aligned with PwC’s global standards.
- Lead the execution of a data maturity program to meet regulatory and business requirements.
4. Data Stewardship
- Establish and manage data stewardship networks and communities of practice.
- Support Line of Service (LoS) data stewards in improving data quality and governance.
- Design and operationalize an engagement model for data stewardship across Africa.
4. Data Quality Management
- Develop and implement a robust Data Quality Framework.
- Oversee data capture processes, ensuring adherence to network and regulatory standards.
- Drive automation and efficiency in data quality processes.
4. Data Literacy & Culture
- Design and deliver data literacy programs to foster a data-driven culture.
- Socialize new policies, frameworks, and best practices across the organization.
4. Operational & Team Leadership
- Manage team performance, development, and service delivery.
- Monitor compliance with audit requirements and budget management.
- Optimize processes using innovative and AI-driven solutions.
4. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance data governance tools and methodologies.
- Stay ahead of industry trends to drive strategic improvements.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Certifications (e.g., DAMA CDMP) are a plus.
Experience:
- 8–10 years in data governance, quality management, or related fields.
- Proven track record in large-scale data projects and cross-functional leadership.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in data frameworks, regulatory compliance (GDPR, POPIA), and risk mitigation.
- Proficiency in data structures, warehousing, and governance tools.
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to mentor teams and promote a collaborative, innovative environment.
