Job Title: Senior Data Team Lead, Technical Design – South Africa

Purpose:
Serve as the EDC System Designer for the build team, producing accurate and detailed specifications documents to support clinical trials.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop eCRFs to align with customer requirements and clinical trial protocols. Utilize expertise in EDC processes to ensure reporting and study management needs are met.
  • Provide expert recommendations and justification for design decisions during discussions with the Principal Programmer and Design Meetings.
  • Optimize design to minimize edit checks, enhance system performance, and leverage global/client libraries for consistency and efficiency.
  • Draft Edit Check Specifications for review by the Data Team Lead (DTL) within 3–6 months of onboarding.
  • Collaborate closely with the Study DTL and Principal Programmer, demonstrating strong communication and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Resolve design-related queries efficiently, working with key stakeholders to ensure seamless data flow and system functionality.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health, Clinical, Biological, or Mathematical Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct Data Management experience, including at least 1 year as a CDM project lead. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Proven experience managing study delivery through the full DM life-cycle, including at least one medium-sized Phase III trial.
  • Strong understanding of data management processes, including SAE reconciliation, external data management, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Familiarity with Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and applicable regulatory guidelines.
