Casual Cashier – Linton Corner
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking dedicated Casual Cashiers to join our Linton Corner store team. As part of our strategic talent pool, you’ll be pre-screened for future opportunities, ensuring quick placement when roles become available.
Purpose of the Role:
Deliver exceptional customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a seamless shopping experience. Process transactions accurately using Dis-Chem’s operating system, adhering to company policies while minimizing errors and fraud risks.
Essential Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Strong numerical skills
- Proficient in English (written and verbal)
- Basic customer service skills
- Flexibility to work retail hours
Job Description:
- Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
- Build professional relationships with customers
- Escalate customer feedback to supervisors or management
- Maintain efficient customer turnover rates
- Stay informed on promotions and sales
- Ensure a safe environment for staff and customers
- Adhere to Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles
- Manage cash flow responsibly
- Obtain approval for line voids and price changes
- Process exchanges and authorized returns
- Handle payments (cash, cards, vouchers, etc.)
- Process loyalty program transactions (e.g., Discovery, eBucks)
- Secure cash in drop safes per SOPs
- Protect personal login credentials
- Verify all outgoing items are scanned and paid for
- Keep cash secure in tills
- Maintain confidentiality of daily takings
- Report suspicious activity to management
- Address merchandise inquiries
- Comply with security policies
