Job Purpose
The Security Manager is responsible for leading and managing all security operations, including overseeing the in-house security company, ensuring compliance with regulations, legislative requirements, and company standards.

Key Performance Areas

Security Planning & Delivery

  • Align the unit’s security strategy with the Group Security strategy.
  • Manage and achieve key security deliverables.
  • Integrate industry-leading security trends and technology.
  • Conduct risk assessments for internal and external threats.
  • Resolve department queries and operational challenges.
  • Optimize resource allocation for security operations.
  • Support BBBEE targets through EE, SD, and procurement strategies.
  • Serve as the Security and Safety Subject Matter Expert.
  • Prepare financial, risk, and compliance reports.

Security Governance & Standards

  • Develop, update, and communicate security standards and processes.
  • Ensure adherence to Group and legislative compliance.
  • Implement control measures to mitigate business risks.
  • Conduct weekly compliance inspections.
  • Train staff on regulatory and security protocols.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to address risk areas.
  • Manage event security planning and compliance.
  • Oversee liquor licensing and trading hours compliance.

Investigations & Case Management

  • Audit and quality-assure investigations.
  • Assign and oversee case investigations.
  • Plan risk audits and maintain schedules.
  • Lead high-priority field investigations.
  • Preserve evidence for internal, legal, and criminal cases.
  • Make jurisdictional decisions on case outcomes.
  • Follow through on judiciary processes.
  • Manage business risk reports.
  • Liaise with legal teams on legal matters.
  • Verify Money Laundering Reporting Officers (FICA).

People Leadership

  • Guide teams on security policies and compliance.
  • Foster positive employee relations and motivation.
  • Enhance employee engagement and development.
  • Identify training needs and succession plans.
  • Ensure staff competence in security roles.
  • Drive talent sourcing and EE initiatives.
  • Implement performance management and coaching.

Budget Management

  • Oversee security budget, cost control, and forecasting.
  • Manage CAPEX and financial reporting.

Customer Experience Management

  • Develop security service standards aligned with customer expectations.
  • Resolve customer escalations efficiently.
  • Engage with VIP guests as required.
  • Monitor and improve staff interactions with customers.

Vendor Relationship Management

  • Negotiate security service contracts and SLAs.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Support service providers in operational challenges.
  • Monitor costs and staffing levels per Contract terms.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Communicate security objectives and procedures.
  • Report critical incidents to management.
  • Liaise with authorities and police on investigations.
  • Provide risk management guidance to stakeholders.

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12.
  • B-Tech Degree in Security Management.
  • Minimum 5 years of security management experience.
  • PSIRA Grade B (preferably Grade A) certified.

Work Conditions & Requirements
