The Business Manager for the Bancassurance and Telecommunication portfolio plays a vital role in bridging strategic objectives and operational execution to maximize commercial value. This position is responsible for translating business strategies into actionable initiatives, enhancing cross-functional integration, and driving innovation and service excellence within the portfolio. Ideal candidates will have a strong commercial acumen, collaboration skills, and deep expertise in bancassurance and telecommunications markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Strategy and Alignment
- Lead environmental and market scanning to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities in the bancassurance and telecom sectors.
- Develop and refine business strategies in response to industry shifts, competition, and regulatory changes.
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, creating compelling business cases for expansion or innovation.
- Drive strategic planning processes, ensuring alignment with Rand Mutual’s overarching goals.
- Translate the portfolio strategy into measurable business models, projects, and KPIs.
- Monitor performance metrics and deliver data-driven insights to inform strategic decisions.
- Conduct regular strategic reviews and recommend adjustments to maintain competitive advantage.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless execution of business functions.
- Optimize processes to eliminate inefficiencies and improve performance.
- Coordinate cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment with Rand Mutual’s strategic objectives.
- Promote a high-performance culture with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement.
Strategic Portfolio Management
- Lead key projects, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timelines.
- Establish strong governance frameworks to track progress, manage risks, and achieve objectives.
- Facilitate collaboration among internal teams and external partners.
- Ensure all business solutions align with regulatory and compliance standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a liaison between leadership and stakeholders, including partners, regulators, and internal teams.
- Drive clear and effective communication of strategic priorities across the business.
- Represent the portfolio in internal and external meetings as needed.
- Prepare executive reports, presentations, and strategic documentation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- NQF Level 8: Honours Degree (required); NQF Level 9: Master’s Degree (advantageous)
- 8–10 years’ experience in strategic business management, consulting, or operational strategy execution
- Strong analytical and strategic planning skills
- Proven ability to drive projects, influence teams, and implement efficiencies
- Experience in bancassurance, telecommunications, or financial services (preferred)
