At Kumba Iron Ore, we produce high-grade iron ore, essential for construction and manufacturing worldwide. Our operations span exploration, mining, processing, shipping, and marketing, with key sites in South Africa’s Northern Cape and Western Cape provinces.
Job Description
As Supervisor Security, your key responsibilities will include:
Safety & Health:
- Uphold safety principles, adhering to risk management protocols and procedures.
- Take accountability for the safety of yourself and others to prevent incidents.
- Promote a culture of workplace safety and escalate identified risks.
- Ensure proper housekeeping standards and report any deficiencies.
- Participate in safety assessments (SLAMs, HPHs, Risk Assessments) and close out actions.
Performance & Delivery:
- Assess and develop the safety leadership skills of your team.
- Verify team members’ fitness for duty and take necessary actions.
- Conduct safety checks, interventions, and coaching.
- Generate safety reports and analyze KPIs to drive improvements.
- Lead security audits and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Manage access control systems, including perimeter security and entry/exit protocols.
- Oversee crime prevention measures, including patrols, alarms, and detection systems.
- Investigate incidents thoroughly and escalate to external authorities when required.
- Maintain emergency response protocols (excluding medical and fire-related duties).
- Implement security procedures for service providers to ensure adherence.
Compliance:
- Meet all local and company compliance requirements for security and safety.
- Ensure team adherence to Anglo American’s security policies and regulations.
This role is part of the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) department at a Band 7 level, reporting to the Section Manager Security.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Certificate.
- National Diploma in Security Management (NQF5) or equivalent.
- Valid South African Driver’s License.
Technical Knowledge
- Understanding of mining industry safety standards.
- Experience in mining security management.
- Proficiency in investigations and report writing.
- Familiarity with company policies and procedures.
