Job Description
As a Business Process Engineer I at FirstRand, you will design, develop, and enhance business processes to ensure operational alignment with strategic goals. By integrating policies, processes, people, and technology, you will deliver optimal solutions that drive efficiency, innovation, and business value.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational Alignment
- Provide input into budget planning and manage budget utilization to ensure delivery within agreed parameters.
- Build collaborative relationships across teams to drive innovation and operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement tactical plans to achieve business objectives in alignment with the overall strategy.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, legislative, policy, and governance requirements.
Process Design & Improvement
- Analyze, document, and optimize baseline processes and standard operating procedures.
- Apply process engineering methodologies to redesign workflows for improved efficiency, cost savings, and customer experience.
- Develop business cases for process improvement initiatives, including efficiency gains and risk mitigation.
- Present business cases to stakeholders to secure prioritization and approval.
Performance Measurement & Governance
- Monitor KPIs to evaluate process effectiveness, including unit costs and turnaround times.
- Identify and implement key metrics for post-implementation measurement and reporting.
- Conduct root cause analysis for process breakdowns and develop corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with governance frameworks and risk management practices.
Data & Reporting
- Extract and analyze data to support informed business decisions.
- Create reports and dashboards to track business process performance and trends.
- Translate data insights into actionable recommendations for process optimization.
Stakeholder Engagement & Execution
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure seamless implementation of solutions.
- Facilitate change management, training, and communication for new initiatives.
- Deliver handovers to execution teams for project deployment.
Education & Experience
- Grade 12 (Matriculation Certificate)
- Tertiary Qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology (Degree and Postgrad preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in business process engineering or related fields.
- Financial services industry experience is advantageous.
