Purpose of the Role
The Branch Manager is responsible for the financial, business, marketing, and people management of their branch to ensure operational excellence and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Monitor and manage branch performance, including:
- New business loan advances
- Interest revenue
- Fee income
- Branch expenses
- Age analysis
- Provisions and impairments
Business & Compliance Management
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements (NCA, lending, collections).
- Investigate and report non-compliance to the Area Manager.
- Monitor and report potential fraudulent activities.
- Ensure accurate daily/monthly branch reconciliations.
- Oversee maintenance of company hardware and software.
Sales & Marketing Management
- Develop and implement sales and marketing plans to drive performance.
- Monitor effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed.
- Promote cross-selling of non-loan products.
- Lead community engagement through targeted marketing initiatives.
People Management
- Lead, motivate, and evaluate branch staff performance.
- Facilitate training and development for team members.
- Oversee decisions on promotions, appointments, and salary adjustments.
- Maintain clear communication between staff and Area Managers.
Qualifications
- Minimum Matric qualification (Sales/Marketing qualifications advantageous).
Experience
- 2+ years in microfinance or banking.
- At least 2 years in a managerial role.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Numeracy, literacy, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in company products (loan types, Consumer Finance, pricing).
- Computer literacy and operational efficiency.
- Conflict resolution and multilingual proficiency (market-relevant languages).
Additional Requirements
- Clear ITC record.
- Ability to manage financial metrics, compliance, sales, and team performance effectively.
