Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Secretary to provide comprehensive legal secretarial support. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and proficient in legal documentation, administrative tasks, and client liaison.
Key Responsibilities
- Dictaphone and copy-typing of a wide range of legal documents
- Typing, formatting, and collating notices and pleadings
- Incorporating amendments and ensuring document accuracy
- Preparing and managing resource, counsel, and client files
- Handling diary management, calls, and message tracking for legal professionals
- Performing general office and personal administrative duties
- Preparing pre-bills, billing memos, and client invoicing
- Collaborating with accounts to manage debtors and debt collection
- Overseeing FICA administration and compliance follow-ups
- Liaising with clients, counsel, presiding officers, experts, and service providers as directed
Requirements
- Matric qualification (essential)
- 7–10 years of experience as a legal secretary
- Minimum typing speed of 60 wpm
- Proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Dictaphone typing experience (essential)
- Knowledge of Aderant Expert (CMS) accounting system
- Experience with iManage document management system
- Familiarity with Standard Bank MyRoof (advantageous)
- Secretarial diploma, legal secretarial diploma, or paralegal qualification (advantageous)
