Job Summary
As a Senior Exchange Control Consultant at Standard Chartered, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to exchange control regulations while maintaining our Authorized Dealer’s License. Your expertise will drive compliance, operational risk management, and exceptional client service. Key activities include proactive regulatory alignment, SARB application management, systematic reporting, and efficient administration of loan reporting systems.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Compliance Support
- Proactively follow up with clients on expiring exchange control applications.
- Provide expert advice to clients via meetings, calls, or email.
- Manage and update the SARB applications mailbox for timely resolutions.
Information & Reporting Excellence
- Maintain and update shared drive resources monthly for team efficiency.
- Escalate service disruptions for priority clients in line with guidelines.
- Ensure accurate Balance of Payments (BOP) categorization and regulatory reporting compliance.
- Oversee data integrity in SARB submissions, including CTR and IFTR reporting.
Operational Leadership
- Govern daily exchange control activities, including pre- and post-vetting.
- Maintain BOP and related systems, ensuring seamless regulatory alignment.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to uphold governance standards (PASA, SARB, FIC).
Skills & Qualifications
- University degree or equivalent.
- 5+ years of managerial/advisory experience in Exchange Control or regulatory compliance.
- Deep expertise in Transactional Banking Products and SWIFT/ISO20022 standards.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- High integrity, adaptability, and control awareness in dynamic environments.
